I don't like Fiery Dragon Swords because Mark of Pain doesn't work with them. So I get pissed when i see warriors with them.
You should get a regular sword. |

I just love how people jump on the bandwagon saying FDS's suck. If you have a good explanation, then good...

I carry one with 15%>50% and a flamberge of the same but with physical damage. If you can't find a use for it, don't use it. I, however, switch swords depending on the occasion. For PvE, fire works great on certain monsters. In PvP, it bypasses any +armor vs phys and you can always switch to another sword if you gotta kill a ranger or an elementalist with pyromancer armor. I'm happy with my method. |

Fiery Dragon is tough drop, it drops anywhere past the Crystal Desert part.
Crystalline is also tough drop, its like finding 20 fiery dragons. |

Wow, people are still bitching about FDS's?
It's just a goddamn sword with a permanent fire hilt! For people who want a sword with fire element its a no brainer. You don't have to like it. You are not edgy or l33t for ragging on it just because its popular with the new kids. Posts like these: Quote:

But yes, I have had purple and gold ones drop. If you'd read the thread properly you would have noticed that I mentioned that my very first FDS find was actualy a gold. |

My 1st Crystalline Sword was Gold .
I kind of think that Fell Blade is overated rather than Fiery Dragon. Fell Blade so rusty. |

Truly if you want one, dont go to Lion's Arch. When I solo farm sand drakes i get them a lot. (purples, golds and max dmg ones included) But you have to Solo.... No henchies. also, as for fellblades, they are not so rare. Just go north of Camp Raknor into the Snake Dance area and farm the Blessed Griffons. Also do this alone. they often drop max dmg holy staff but also a lot of Fellblades ( purple and gold ones as well ). If you solo farm you will get what you want much faster.
Also if you think FDS are for noobs. and that they should use the sword you use, and the skills you use and whatever the @%#& you think is the only way to play the game..... I THINK YOU ARE JUST A RETARD, GAMES ARE MADE TO BE PLAYED AND ENJOYED AS A SOURCE OF INTERTAINMENT. They're isent a specific way to play a game. SO SHUT UP and let them enjoy it the way THEY WANT TO. |

^ Entertainment that is. Games are meant to be played however they will be played. I agree I bought my clean max dam Fellblade for the looks and I agree that looks don't make a difference. FDS are alright and good against anything as long as they don't have protection from fire damage.

Funny thing, I got three new blue max-damage FDS today. Apparently it works similar to Daggerfall. You get one in your inventory, and it just starts dropping them all over! Now that crystalline sword sounds cool, I'll have to check one out.
Oh, and I got a solid-black fellblade today that is the most powerful sword I have. I use it as a primary now. I have been salvaging most of the FDS and getting fiery hilts to sell, haha! |

Firstly, you said your friend found it while you were both out. Now if this friend knew how badly you wanted a Fiery Dragon Sword, why didn't he just give it to you, or at the least sell it to you with a discount? I mean, if he's your friend then an in-game item can't exactly be too much to give you, unless he wanted one as much as you did. Did you ask him if you could have it?
Secondly, if you really wanted to buy a maximum damage Fiery Dragon Sword, you can get them for much cheaper than 1k if you look hard enough. There are some good deals around, for instance I found one of these going for 500g, which I thought wasn't a bad deal at all. It was just a basic maximum damage version, I think it also had a swordsmanship bonus chance of 10% or something like that. Nothing special, but cheap. Finally, keep your mouths shut -- interestingly enough, nobody cares what weapon you prefer. The thread starter was complaining about drops for a specific item -- did you see 'WHAT DO U THINK OF THE FIERY DRAGON SWORD?!' written anywhere in there? No? Very interesting, as it looks like you've been dragging the thread off-topic, and nothing more. The only people who sound like so-called 'n00bs' are the people who go around calling people 'n00bs' in the first place. Very childish hobby if you ask me. Quote:

Well put, Matt. I did that quest in pre-searing (did them all), and don't remember getting a sword. My friend did want the sword for his warrior character, so I let it go. It's not his fault it dropped for him, even though he was a monk and I was a warrior. I love the old saying "shit happens". I have noticed that it drops regularly now that I own one though. I have like six fiery hilts to sell now!

Anywho, I think that the FDSs can look nifty on some people. So, they're not ALL that useful, some people are into lookign cool over being a min-maxer. |
